Meow Mix
Tcho
// article by Meow

Ah, the organic aisle. You never fail to amuse me with your weird art and absurd names. For instance, today's item: Tcho!

Now, before I go any further, I have two tasks for you...

1) Guess what exactly Tcho is.

2) Tell me how the heck you even pronounce Tcho. Is it titch-oh? Tick-oh? Toh?

Well, I'll answer one of those. Tcho is a brand of organic chocolate. Apparently made in California, this is another one of those random things I found on sale during a random trip. With three flavors to choose from, I nabbed Mokaccino and Mint Chip Gelato to satisfy both my coffee craving and ice cream craving.

Mokaccino is milk chocolate mixed with what is apparently called Blue Bottle Coffee, another American brand of delicious looking substances. It's rather smooth, and the coffee flavor adds a nice hint of bitterness that is balanced out with the creamy texture of cocoa butter. It's not overly sweet, which is more of a problem with American chocolates than you'd think. I can see myself getting more of these in the future.

Mint Chip Gelato, on the other hand, isn't as pleasant to me. It's a dark chocolate of 64% with bits of dried mint chocolate-chip gelato that give a nice crunch to the chocolate. It has a nice minty flavor to it, but the high level of cacao really drags the whole experience down. If it was more like the milk chocolate of Mokaccino, it would have been a definite thumbs up. That being said, it's not bad; I just wish it was creamier.

There is definite quality with both of these, being some of the best American chocolate I can say I've had in a long time. Not super sugary, nice quality cocoa butter, this stuff is delightful. I can see myself getting Mokaccino again if it goes on sale and I'm in the mood, but I'll probably give the Mint Chip Gelato a miss unless I'm really in the mood for dark chocolate. Until then, I'll try figure out how the heck you pronounce Tcho.
