Taco Bell Fire! Tortilla Chips
// article by Meow

FIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE!!!

After moving to America, Taco Bell was one of my go-to places for fast cheap food. If I can be honest, it still is. One of the things that drew me to it was the variety of hot sauces you can get since I love hot sauce, and the hotter the better. Granted, the sauces at Taco Bell aren't exactly mind-blowing, but they are popular. Taco Bell has also toyed with commercial products such as the most excellent Chipotle sauce that I can't find in stores anymore (but I think is on their breakfast menu items now), as well as their common Mild/Hot/Fire sauces being sold in bottles. I suppose it was only a matter of time until someone decided to put it into a chip.

So we have here Fire! Tortilla Chips from Taco Bell, with a phrase written in a bubble on the packaging much like the novel sauce packets themselves. I also spied Mild, but I didn't feel like shelling out for it. Might consider doing so in the future though because these Fire chips, based on the Fire sauce, are pretty good, honestly. They have a nice taste of that spiced tomato sauce that actually seems to be more intense as I eat more, which, if you've read some of my past chip/crisp reviews seems to be a problem I've repeatedly come across. The chip is red through and through, so I'm unsure if the sauce is in the dough itself, though it could be the beetroot and annatto for color used. I won't lie, for a gimmicky chip, these are pretty dang good. Granted, I like the Fire sauce it's based on, too, so whatever. Maybe next time I get the chance, I'll nab Mild and give it a whirl.
