As epic as most pop teams.

This show, much like myself, will only bring madness if you try to actually understand it. Pop Team Epic is, as I'm told, a show made by people who do those insane Japanese commercials the world sort of just stares at in sheer awe at their absurdity. This show is no exception. It is filled with jokes and parodies that reference seriously just about anything; even the sky isn't the limit here. Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest XI, Dick Dastardly and Muttley... I'm serious here about how there is no limit.

This show also features a wide variety of artistic styles, as can be seen in the screenshots featured here in this article, and there are occasionally even little song numbers, and every one of the songs featured are catchy as heck.

There are even a few running gags, such as each episode ending with a "preview" of a completely unrelated show called "Hoshiiro Girldrop", of which there is an actual website for this fake anime, I'm told. That's how far these people go to make these jokes. Also, each episode has two versions of it, most notably identified by one version having the main characters voiced by women and the other version having them voiced by men. There's also a fun "spot the differences" you can do with each version, as there are some minor differences as well as major ones in each episode.

You really never know what you're going to get with this thing, but what I do know is that if you're here reading Random.Access, you're more than likely going to get a laugh out of this show. Again, not sponsored by Crunchyroll, but you can watch it here: http://www.crunchyroll.com/pop-team-epic

Fall in love again next review!
